Thought Leader Life 093: Guest Stephen Shapiro

Our co-host for the month of September is Peter Winick (@PeterWinick) and one of our guests was Stephen Shapiro (@StephenShapiro).

Stephen Shapiro

In this episode, Mitchell Levy, Chief Aha Instigator of the Aha Amplifier (http://AhaAmplifier.com), and his co-host for the month, #ThoughtLeader Peter Winick, founder and CEO of Thought Leadership Leverage (http://www.thoughtleadershipleverage.com),share valuable insights on successful keynote speaking with #ThoughtLeader, innovation evangelist, and top keynote speaker Stephen Shapiro (http://www.stephenshapiro.com). The discussion focuses on the month’s theme of leveraging content – this time, as a speaker. As a sought-after public speaker for 15 years, Stephen shares a few of his secrets to success and emphasizes content relevance and authenticity as important elements. He says he is a marketer first, noting that #ThoughtLeader speakers should have a marketer’s frame of mind. Peter also notes that what Stephen is exemplifying is to never be ego-centric (he even enjoys not flying first-class) but be customer-centric. Be someone who is “easy to do business with.” Have that level of marketing savvy and sales sophistication that is integrated with your relevant content.

Stephen points out that speakers should caution themselves from being “salesy.” You don’t sell products, you sell content, ideas, and the belief that people can think differently. Have great content delivered in a great way and get it to the right people.
